Lady Shonda-Renee’ Brooks
Shonda-Renee’ Brooks is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a child her family relocated to Richmond, VA where she spent most of her adolescent and adult years. At the tender age of twelve she committed her life to God and embarked on a quest to fully experience and share the greatness of God through wisdom, knowledge and her drive for creative worship and spiritual freedom.
Under the covering of her Uncle and Godfather, Bishop Lawrence Levi Taylor of Fountain of Deliverance Outreach Ministries (Richmond, VA) and Chaplain of the Mt. Sinai Holy Churches of America Inc., she was granted many opportunities in leadership. By age thirteen Lady Shonda was an active member of the young adult choir, where she ministered in the soprano section with the opportunity to lead songs, sing solos and even to serve as a section leader. At fifteen Lady Shonda founded and directed Fountain of Deliverance’s first Christian step and dance team affectionately known as ‘The Steppers 4 Jesus.’ In the years after, Shonda would become a member of the Adult Choir and Praise Team, the Vice President of the Christian Youth Fellowship, and a candidate in the Miss Mount Sinai Youth Pageant.
In her early adult years, led of the Holy Spirit, Lady Shonda became a member of New Jerusalem International Christian Ministries in Richmond, VA where Dr. Olive C. Brown is Chief Apostle and Presiding Prelate and Bishop Joel Vincent Brown serves as Bishop of the house. While in NJICM, Shonda served faithfully in ministry on the Praise Team, Young Adult Choir, the Adult Choir, and the Convocation choir, and in 2006, with the blessings, approval, and assistance of Dr. O.C. Brown and Bishop J. V. Brown, Lady Shonda was granted the opportunity to become one of three founding leaders of the Kingdom Crew Teen’s Ministry.
Given the gift of song and the ability to compose life inspiring pieces, Lady Shonda has ventured out as a solo artist blessing the East Coast with her dynamic ministry. Aside from personal engagements, Lady Shonda has sung background for Roz Brown & Majesty and producer Greg Mitchell. She has also sung for Perry Evans & LYF of Richmond, VA, Patrick Riddick and D’vyne Worship of Tidewater, VA, and Powerfied Youth of Salisbury, MD. Along with ministering in song and counsel, she is the author of five children’s books, the latest of which, “Mommy, Does God Iron His Clothes A lot?”, is set for print in the U.S. and abroad. Lady Shonda has also launched her first Christian awareness and entertainment magazine entitled “Christians+R+Us Magazine” which is geared towards “Uniting the Entire World One Believer at a Time.” Currently, Lady Shonda is working on two books. One entitled, "My Fair Lady: Acknowledging the Struggles & the Successes of the Modern Day Ministry Wife". The other is a novel of joint collaboration between Lady Shonda and Overseer Brooks. The fictional novel is for young women and is entitled, "Oh No She Didn't...Oh Yes She Did".
Lady Shonda is the loving wife of Overseer Kelvin C. Brooks, mother of one daughter (Aislinn Jon'Nae-Porter Brooks) and one son (Justus Wesley-Alexander Brooks), an educator and a dedicated vessel of God with varied and diverse anointings.
